Brazoria County Emergency Services District #1
The District was formed on May 28, 2002 under Article III, Section 48-e, of the Texas Constitution.  The District Board, a five-member group appointed by the Brazoria County Commissioners Court, is the level of government that serves to provide emergency medical services, emergency ambulance services, provide funding, and reduce insurance costs within the designated district boundaries.

Although the Board of the District was appointed by the Brazoria County Commissioners Court, it has the authority to make decisions, appoint administrators and managers, significantly influence operations, and holds primary accountability for fiscal matters.    (Taken from the District's annual audit performed by Kennemer, Masters & Lunsford)
